what's ON AT St john's?

CHURCH CALENDAR

DATES FOR THE DIARY

Holy Week and Easter Services

Starts with Palm Sunday on 29th March with both morning services and the Passiontide service at 6pm in the evening.

There will then be a Compline service at 7pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  Maundy Thursday has the supper at 7 pm and Communion service at 8pm.  On Good Friday there are the walks of witness in both parishes in the morning (along with the activities for the children) before the Last hour at the Cross at 2pm.  Easter Day starts with the sunrise service at Denny Abbey at 6:30am, followed by breakfast at St John's, before the celebration of Communion at the morning services.

Easter Day Breakfast

Sunday 5th April at 8am

This year, the Easter Day breakfast is returning to St John's. Peter and Joel have kindly offered to prepare and cook a smorgasbord of breakfast delights!

It would really assist with the catering, if you could let Rev'd Paul know by 29th March if you plan to attend, including your children.

The breakfast follows our customary Sunrise Service at Denny Abbey at 6.30am; if you're unable to attend the Denny service, you're still welcome to attend the breakfast.

Making Sense of the Big Story of the Bible

Sunday 12th April and Sunday 26th April

The Revd Professor Steve Walton will be presenting on the big story of the Bible. Holy Scripture comprises texts written over hundreds of years, in a broad range of genres and reflecting diverse cultures - and this cultural, literary and historical distance can create a dissonance with our Western postmodern worldviews.

Steve will provide us with a number of hooks on which we can hang the big story of God and humankind. After the first session, Steve will review and seek feedback for the next two sessions. The second and third sessions will go ahead if we get a decent takeup for the first session!
